The Music Therapy Impact Fund is a fund with The North Valley Community Foundation that implements music therapy programs and provides individual music therapy services.
Funds will be used to create music therapy programs in Chico and the surrounding areas. Programs may be developed at health facilities (medical, hospice, rehabilitation facilities, etc.), in the school system, and/or for other for-profit and not-for-profit entities (assisted living, special education, etc.).
As a consulting music therapist for the Fund, I am very pleased to be able to say that The Music Therapy Impact Fund has recently begun it’s first pilot music therapy program, providing music therapy to patients receiving hospice and palliative care.
Relying solely on donations, this pilot program will remain in effect for up to three years. The goal is to show the benefits and efficacy of music therapy so that it will ultimately be provided as a standard of care through all hospice providers.
